Alessandro Vicentini

My name is Alessandro, and I am a 26 years old PhD candidate coming from Venice, Italy. After the internships in the biomechanics laboratories in Verona (University of Verona) and Leuven (KU Leuven) I had the chance to work as biomechanical engineer in Geneva, Switzerland. These experiences led to an increase of my interest about the Achilles tendon and the lower limb mechanics.

My doctoral program is supervised by Prof. dr. Sicco A. Bus and Prof. dr. Mario Maas and it is funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) of the European Union’s Europe 2022 research and innovation program. This project deals with how soft tissues biomechanical and morphological properties contribute to foot injury occurrence. Our aim is to use advanced imaging techniques to assess tissue changes in relation to mechanical stress under dynamic conditions and, thus, advance our understanding of diabetic foot disease in remission.

Outside the lab I love hanging out with friends, music and sports, especially basketball and track and field.
