Touria Ahaouari

My name is Turia Ahaouari. I graduated from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and followed with a master’s degree in Technological Innovation in Health and Biomedical Engineering through the EIT (European Institute of Innovation & Technology) and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The EIT Health program offered me the opportunity of a semester abroad at Université Grenoble Alpes. My interest in gaining more knowledge and expertise in medical technologies and healthcare management led me to a second master’s degree in Clinical Engineering.

In the field of medical image and data processing, I carried on my first internship at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology. The main objective of the developed project was to convert pre-surgical and post-surgical brain glioblastoma MRI images into quantitative information about patient outcome. Another remarkable personal and professional experience in the field of medical image processing took place during my semester abroad at Université Grenoble Alpes where I carried on an internship under the project “Development of a deep learning approach for functional lung imaging based on quantitative computed tomography”. This project contributed to the paper submitted to the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging “CT registration-derived biomarkers of recruitability in ARDS”. My latest experience was during my Traineeship at Philips Iberia at the department of Monitoring and Analytics (Connected Care).

The DC5 project opens the door to a new personal and professional challenge and I truly believe significant outcomes can be generated from this program.
