Consortium meeting & Hackathon
April 20-23 the DIALECT consortium convened in Amsterdam for the final consortium meeting (program here) and a challenging Hackathon.
The MSCA-ITN DIALECT Hackathon set-up in short:
🦶 For three days, multidisciplinary teams battled with wicked problems. They followed design thinking approaches, and on the final day they presented what they have come up with!
🦶 Each team has DIALECT Doctoral Candidates from three different universities in three European countries, a clinician (there are people from Denmark and Portugal) and an entrepreneur (there are people from Italy, Germany and the Netherlands). So much diverse quality in these teams!
🦶 And the wicked problems they were working on?
👣 Filippo Goi from Vibram Group asked if a solution could be found to make orthopaedic footwear that feels like the All Stars from his youth.
👣 Giorgia Sartorato and Carlo Buratto from PODartis would like to find a design solution to truly incorporate personal preferences in orthopaedic footwear design.
👣 Roosmarijn Geerlings from HOMELAND is looking for a better way to disseminate knowledge. How can one reach this diverse multidisciplinary field with the best knowledge, to give patients the best care?
👣 Pauline Oonk from Stepp Footcare needs a remote monitoring solution, to be able to manage the increasing number of people at risk of foot disease with a decreasing number of clinicians available.
After three days the DIALECT hackathon came to an inspiring end! We can’t share all the brilliant ideas developed in just 48 hours, but here’s a peak:
🦶 #Evifindia (domain name claimed) – a new platform to share research between researchers and healthcare workers in new, smart and interactive ways. With some of the platform already built! 🦶 Voice-controlled remote monitoring with a selfie box? #SoleMe, who managed to have the tool ready to actually make those photos of your feet! Victoria Milbourn , Sergio Catalano , Hadi Sarlak , Axel Kalpen , Anne Rasmussen
🦶 A #personalized#footwear design system, with built-in options from all PODartis shoes included. Plus a transparently good idea! Niloofar Sedighi , Amanda Esmann OlesenAbhilasha A. , Onur Okcu , Filippo Goi .
Quite amazing to see what can be achieved in just 2 dedicated days in Amsterdam UMC – Revalidatiegeneeskunde!
