The German Sport University Cologne (GSU) is Germany’s largest centre of teaching and research in physical education and sport sciences. In 1970, it was formally recognized as a state university and non-profit public institution of higher education. Today, GSU holds 31 full professorships, employs around 1.000 people, and about 6.000 students from over 90 countries are preparing for professional careers in sport, sport sciences, and related fields. The Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics (IBO) is an internationally leading department working on biomechanics, neuromechanics, and medical technology.
