The Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute is a highly specialised hospital and research institute in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology.  The strength of the institute is the close integration between clinical and scientific research activities and it is a teaching centre for the University of Bologna. In addition to basic orthopaedic-traumatological surgery, highly specialised operations are performed to treat tumors of the musculoskeletal system, paediatric orthopedic pathology, spinal, foot and upper limb pathology, sports pathology, degenerative joint pathology of the hip and knee, and the diagnosis and treatment of rare skeletal diseases.
